词语用法:
April,January,February等月份词均指阳历，不指阴历。 阴历四月是the fourth moon，正月是the first moon， 二月是the second moon；
表示“某年某月”时，顺序是先月后年，中间可以用逗号隔开，但习惯上不用，如April 2001和April, 2001。表示“某年某月某日”时，年份前习惯用逗号隔开，也有不用的时候，如24 April，2001或April 24，2001和24 April 2001或April 24 2001，但是尽量避免使用April 24 2001的格式，避免看起来像242001；
“某月某日”有多种表达方法，但一定不以逗号隔开，如24 April，24th April，April 24，April 24th，
April the 24th，the 24th April，the 24th of April和the 24th day of April，每个国家的习惯不一样，英美通用的是April 24和April 24th，而the 24th day of April基本指用在正式文件中；
说“某月某日，星期几”时，顺序上习惯先说星期几，后说日期，如Friday，24 April，当中的逗号可省略；
表达“某月某日，星期几，上下午”时，有不同的表达方式。例：We first met on Friday morning, 24 April, 2001.I We first met on the morning of Friday, 24 April, 2001. 两句用法均正确。

April是公历月份的第四个月,不可用于中国的农历,农历4月通常用the fourth moon来表示。
April可缩写为Apr.。
April在句中可用作定语来修饰其他名词,泛指月份时须用零冠词。
日月的表示法：“4月7日”一般有如下的几种表示法：the 7th of April; the seventh of April; 7(th) April和April 7(th)。一般认为在书面语中以不带定冠词为宜,即后两种说法更好些。这两种写法都可读为：①April seven; ②April seventh; ③April the seventh; ④the seventh of April。
年、月、日的简写：
与汉语中的“2000年4月7日”顺序不同,英式英语说“日月年”,即7/4/00或7,4,00; 美式英语则说“月日年”,即4/7/00或4,7,00。近年来在英国也有说“月日年”,即采用美式说法的。如此说来,在日、月均为一位数时,在英美是极易混淆的。为此,国际标准化组织推荐采用“00.4.7”的写法。这种写法已日渐普及,特别是在欧洲。
注意next April可指“今年4月份”,也可指“来年4月份”。4月份之前说next April指“今年4月份”; 4月份之后的next April指“来年4月份”。
April的来源有两种说法：一是富于幻想的古罗马人根据拉丁词operire(意为“开放”)造了Aprilis,以表示该月树木抽芽、春蕾绽放。二是以希腊神话中爱与美的女神Aphrodite而命名Aprilis。另外,早先英国人称4月为easter-month,即“复活节月”。
英美人喜欢以Diamond(钻石)和Daisy(雏菊)、Sweet Pea(香豌豆花)指代April。
