dictation的基本意思是指“老师朗读,学生听写”或“上级口授,下级记录”这样双方向的动作。是抽象名词,不可数。dictation还可指具体的“听写测验”和“听写或口授的内容”,这时是可数名词。dictation引申还可指“命令”。
dictation在作“照口述写下来”解时,其前一般加介词from,有时也可加to或at。
在take〔have〕 dictation中dictation前通常不加不定冠词a。

教师让学生听写。
We have a dictation every English class.
每次上英语课我们都进行听写测验。
I hated it if I ever had to take dictation from him.
