authorize的基本意思是“授权”,指把权力委托给别人或机构代为执行。
authorize是及物动词,可接名词或代词作宾语,也可接以动词不定式充当宾语补足语的复合宾语。
authorize在英式英语中也可写作authorise。
用作及物动词 (vt.) The committee authorized the payment of the money.
委员会批准该款之支付。
I've been authorized by the court to repossess this property.
我得到法庭认可重新拥有这笔财产。
I have authorized him to act for me while I am away.
我已经委托他当我不在的时候代我处理。
He confidentially authorized me to act for him while he was abroad.
