编者按：本文将讲解so that的一般用法。

so that 的意思是:

为了…,以便…;结果…,以致…

相当于in order to，"为了，以便"

He tries his best so that he can pass the exam.

(主句和从句时态保持一致即可)

so that引导目的状语从句时意为“以便，使能够”，从句里的谓语动词前要加上may, might, can, could, will, would等情态动词

例如: He turned down the radio so that it wouldn’t disturb his neighbours. 他把收音机声音关小了，这样就不会打扰邻居们了。

so that 的常用口语:

I turn on the light so that I can see clearly.

我把灯打开以便看得清楚些

His back is so crooked that he can not stand upright.

他的背弯得他站不直。

They have to dredge the canal so that ships can use it.

他们须疏浚运河河道轮船方可通航.

that = so.
