意：跟他老子一样；跟他爸一样；真是他爸的儿子
例：Simon is his father's son all right-same ginger hair and violent temper!
西蒙真像他爸?同样的姜黄色头发、同样的暴脾气！
She is her mother's daughter-beautiful and intelligent.
她跟她妈一个样?又漂亮，又聪明。

意：这下事情搞糟了；捅娄子了
例:When your mother finds out what you've done, the fat wi11 really be in the fire.
要是你妈发现你干的事，就麻烦了。
far be it from me
用：后接不定式短语，表示说话人实在忍不住才插话，才说，才发表自己的看法，尽管他决不愿这样做。
意：我决不会…（但…）；我实在不该…（但…）；我不想的 （可是…）；（虽说）我不该（不适合…）…
例，Far be it from me to criticize her; I just think she's behaved extremely badly.
我实在不想批评她，只是我认为她的行为太差劲儿了。
Far be it from me to ask embarrassing questions, but I must find out the facts.
我实在不想问难堪的问题，但我必须查清事实。
